We’re pleased to announce the release of our latest app, Now Open. You can get it here:

Use Now Open to find out what’s open RIGHT NOW. Just put in the business name and we’ll show you if they are open. If we can find it, we’ll show you their schedule and let you quickly call, visit their site, or get directions.

This may sound hollow coming from the people who developed it, but we’ve been using Now Open ourselves and it has proved super-useful time and again.

We designed Now Open with speed and ease of use in mind. Because it’s focused on delivering the top result it’s a fast way to get right to a business listing, even if you’re just trying to get the phone number or website, as opposed to the hours. For instance, here’s how to call a business using Now Open:

  1. Open Now Open
  2. Type business name and Search
  3. Tap call button

Here’s the process using the built-in maps app:

  1. Open Maps
  2. Tap Search on the segmented control at the bottom (if it’s not already selected)
  3. Tap the GPS button so that you can search near your current location
  4. Tap into the search field to bring up the keyboard
  5. Type business name and Search
  6. Tap the pin you want
  7. Tap the arrow button to get to the business details
  8. Tap the phone number
